and I pray that all of God’s perfect plans for your life will be accomplished in due course Jesus
Name.
I woke up this Christmas day feeling blessed and excited about the birth of our Lord
Jesus Christ and the immeasurable blessings I enjoy today because of His birth. So I
decided to have a conversation with you today on the significance of Christ’s birth to the
world so our topic today is- The Birth of the Saviour.

To do this, we will look at the preparations for His birth, the birth of Jesus and the
significance of His birth to the world.
When God created Adam and placed him in the Garden of Eden, He warned him-
"You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
Genesis 2:16-17,
God meant spiritual death here which is the separation of man’s spirit from God. So when
Adam and Eve disobeyed God, He severed the spirit of man from himself so that man
could no longer contact Him in the spirit. Man was spiritually dead. Ephesians 2:12
describing the state of man at this time states
“Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from
citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope
and without God in the world.”
Romans 5:14
“Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even
over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a
pattern of the one to come.”
Everyone came into the world with the spirit of the devil and could not contact God in
the spirit. Everyone was alienated from God even if they did not sin because we all had
the nature of the devil.
But immediately after God banned Adam and Eve from Heaven He began the plan to
save man. God had to devise a plan that the devil could not thwart. It took many years,
but throughout the days of the OC, He was putting the plan in place. From time to time,
He spoke about His plan for a Saviour through the OT Prophets, like Jeremiah and Isaih
Eventually, the time was ripe. God found the virgin He needed, JC was born in a
manger. To digress a little, some people refuse to celebrate Christmas because as they
argue Jesus was not born on the 25th of December. They say that the heathen

celebrated the birthday of the sun on the 25th of December. I think they miss the point.
It’s not the day that matters. It is the reason for the celebration. Christ’s followers could
choose any day to celebrate Him. When my late father was born, there were no records.
But along the line, he chose a day to celebrate his birthday; and that’s perfectly fine. We
had the opportunity to celebrate his birthday.

Today I do not know how many people identify 25 th of December with the birthday of the
sun. Today, its all about the birth of Jesus Christ.
On the day of Jesus’ birth, there was great joy and rejoicing. Joseph had taken Mary to
Judea to be taxed. Luke 2 from Verse 6 says-
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should
be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over
their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round
about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for,
behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling
clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the
heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men.

The host of Heaven is a group of Angels who worship God and also assists the people
of God when necessary. The Angels were rejoicing and glorifying God because the long
awaited savior of the world had been born. But there was another reason why the
Angels were rejoicing. God’s anger against the people of the world ceased with the birth
of Christ. Under the Law of Moses, God gave man laws that were impossible to keep. At
the same time He gave stringent punishment for breaking those laws. God had a reason
for being very strict with people in the OC. He didn’t want the devil to spoil His plan for
salvation through the carelessness and negligence of man. But finally His plan of
decades for saving the world through the virgin birth of His son had come to fruition.
The Saviour was born. It was sealed. The era of dealing ruthlessly with man had come
to an end. The era of dealing with man according to His Grace and His unconditional
love has come. The era of showing man His faithfulness and every blessing imaginable
had come. The time to deliver man from spiritual death and return the authority that the
devil took from Adam and Eve had come. God was joyful.
The birth of Jesus was the beginning of the journey to the Cross of Calvary where His
son would sacrifice His life for the sins of the world. God was happy because very soon,
He could be a Father to His children who received Him. Now He could have the kind of

personal relationship He always wanted with His children. The birth of JC marked the
cessation of anger towards man and the beginning of love and friendship with man.
In verse 10, the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of
great joy, which shall be to all people. The crux of my conversation this Christmas day
is that the coming of Christ into anyone’s life is good news. He brings good tidings of
great joy. The coming of Christ into your life should be marked by praises, thanksgiving,
joy, peace and contentment. The coming of Christ into your life should not be marked by
depression, murmuring and discontentment. And you should not allow anyone take you
back to the era when God was angry with people by constantly condemning you.
So today as we celebrate Christmas you need to be excited that God’s wrath has
ceased. Today, we have been made adopted sons and daughters of God and part of
His family; a chosen people; a royal priesthood and a holy nation. God is not angry with
you. He is not just tolerating you. He loves you and is excited about meeting your needs
and having a personal relationship with you.
Let the knowledge that you are blessed to be a part of God’s amazing family, gladden
your heart today.
