In the last Episode, we started a series on the Power of blessing and Cursing. And in
that Episode we zeroed in on the power of the tongue. We reminded ourselves that our
words can give life or cause death. Our words can bring healing or hurt, blessing or
cursing. And we concluded on the note that if you want to know what your life would be
like 5 years from now, listen to what you are saying today. Because your life is headed
in the direction of your words. This is a statement we hear all the time. So why are we
not paying attention to our utterances? Why are you still calling yourself or others mad
and crazy? Why do you call yourself forgetful? Why do you call people empty and
stupid? May God grant us the Grace to be more cautious and deliberate about our
utterances..
Our topic for this Episode is –Bless to Create Good.
Our words carry significant power and authority. If we make the right choice, our words
also attract abundant life and have the power to create peace, joy, contentment,
achievement, progress and prosperity to us.
Today we will explore this power to create good and the blessings of God around us.
We want to look at how we can ensure that we are speaking blessings and positivity
into our lives and environment on routine and every day circumstances, when we are
not dealing with any challenges or trying to resist the devil.
In Genesis Chapter 1, we read that in the beginning the earth was formless and empty,
and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
So there was no warfare; there was no opposition or contention. The earth was just
empty and void. And God began to create by speaking into the nothingness. He created
the Heavens, the earth, the trees and vegetation, the land, the waters, the livestock and
animals and everything that exists by simply speaking them into existence. God just
said –Let there be light and there was light; and so on. The last verse of Genesis 1
says-God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. God spoke our beautiful
world and all there is in it into existence by His words.
Romans 4:17 says that God calls into existence the things that do not exist. The New
Living Translation says He creates new things out of nothing. And God creates by His
words.
And God has granted us that same power to call into existence things that do not exist;
to create things out of nothing; to call forth His blessings from nothing into our
environment. By our words.
What we are considering today is the fact that God has granted us that same power to
create beauty, progress, prosperity, smartness and intelligence, peace and joy from our
inner being into our environment; into our lives; into the lives of our children and
everything around us.

So my question to you today is-what are you saying when from all intents and
purposes, nothing is confronting you or challenging you; when the devil is not attacking
you; when no one is looking for your trouble. What are you saying about your body
when you are healthy? What are you saying about your children’s future when they are
still underage? What are you saying about your grandchildren when your children are
not yet married? What are you saying about your husband or your wife and your
children when you are still single? What are you saying about old age and how you
want to age now? What are you saying about your finances, your job and your
businesses in the future?
Or text in James 3:5 says that the tongue is a small but powerful part of the body. It is
small but mighty. We have heard severally that death and life are in the power of the
tongue. Our words can bring life or create death. The objective of our teaching today is
to use our words to create life from nothing; to cause the blessings of God to flow in and
around us when the devil is not attacking us. When all is seemingly okay.
We are talking about forming a habit of speaking good into our lives and circumstances
when nothing is happening yet; when things are neither good nor bad; speaking
blessings into the lives of your unborn children and grandchildren; into the life of your
not yet known husband or wife; into your old age which is still many years away; into the
future of your job and business.
In the morning, before you start your day, when you have not started confronting the
issues of the day, you need to speak good and blessings into your day. On a routine
basis you need to speak blessings of good health, protection and progress into your life
and the lives of your children and other people that matter to you. And we can’t over
emphasize the need to avoid using careless words on your children and people under
your authority. You need to speak blessings into your day’s work. You need to bless
your body and speak to it to perform optimally. You need to speak to the circumstances
of the day to favour you.
Our words are like seeds. What we plant with them will grow and can either produce the
blessings of the word of God in and around us, or whatever else we have been
speaking.
These blessings would form a hedge around you which the devil cannot easily
penetrate because he knows they are based on the word of God. And from Revelations
8:4 we learn that God stores up our prayers which I believe includes the words we
speak in a container for future use. We do not want our container of words to be filled
with curses, negative and poisonous words. I pray that my container of spoken words
and yours would be filled with words of love, favor, goodness, progress and kindness
which God would put to proper use for us when the need arises.
