The topic of our Conversation today is the Principle of Sowing And Reaping.
The experiences of our lives and who we are today are results of our mindset, our
confessions and our actions of yesterday. The experiences of our lives and what we will
be tomorrow are results of our mindset, our confessions and the way we act today.
God tells us clearly in Galatians 6:7-Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for
whatever a man sows, he reaps. Every farmer understands this principle. In fact we
reap what we sow, more than we sow, and later than we sow. A single seed that a
Farmer plants, if well watered and nurtured yields dozens and hundreds of seeds.
The Bible refers to the word of God as a Seed in several scriptures. 1 peter 1: 23
declares that we have been born again not of perishable seed, but of imperishable,
through the living and enduring word of God.
In Mark 4:26-29, Jesus explained that the Kingdom of God is like a Seed.
This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night
and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not
know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain — first the stalk, then the head, then
the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it,
because the harvest has come." NIV
This scripture refers to the word of God as seed while our heart is the ground.
In our Christian walk, the word of God is the seed that we plant. Everyone of us is a
sower; and will reap a harvest of our own planting.
According to Bible concordance the word seed in the bible was translated from the
Greek word Sperm.
This means that in order to conceive and manifest the plan of God in our lives, we have
to plant God’s words like seed in our hearts. In order to conceive and manifest the plan
of God in your life, you must plant God’s word like a seed in your heart. To enjoy an
abundant and fruitful life, you must plant the word of God in your life.
How do we plant the word of God in our hearts?
First, we plant the word of God in our hearts by studying it diligently, meditating on it
and retaining it in our hearts.
When you plant a seed, it goes through the process of developing roots, growing and
maturing before bearing fruit. The word of God goes through the same process.
When we sow the seed of God’s word in our hearts, it matures step by step. We cannot
bypass the growth cycle. We usually make the mistake of expecting the word of God to
bear fruit within a week or even a day. And when it does not happen this way, we get
dissappointed and give up. But just like a seed has to remain in the ground and watered

to germinate, so we need to remain consistent in meditating on the word and hiding it in
our hearts before it bears fruit.
Secondly, for the word of God to be productive in our lives, we must confess it
continuously. Confession is affirming something we believe. It is testifying to those
things that we now know and believe from studying the word of God. In fact Hebrew 3:1
describes Christianity as the great confession, while Hebrew 4:14 urges us to hold fast
to our confession of salvation through Jesus the Son of God.
Confessing the truth of the word of God over your life is something you must do for
yourself because you believe. Listening to others speak the word is good but it will not
produce as bountiful a harvest as speaking the word to yourself. Romans 10.10 says-It
is with your heart that you believe and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith.
And we must have one confession. We cannot have a different confession in the face of
apparent contradictions, because as we said before, it is our constant confession and
watering that will bear fruit and change the situation. When you confess- God loves me –
in one breath and confess-I think God is angry with me in the next breath; or Christ
redeemed me from the curse of the Law in one breath and I am under a curse in the
next breath, you are planting weeds beside your seeds. And you have to waste time to
uproot the weeds and nurture your seeds before they can bear fruit. When you make
contradicting confessions, you have to take the time to cancel the negative confessions
and maintain the positive confession over time before it can bear fruit. And you end
precious time when you do this. You can see this is the reason why many of our
confessions take too long to bear fruit.
Again the circumstances around us and even our bodies are used to hearing and
obeying our negative confessions. When we begin to exercise our authority and to
speak the word of God into our circumstances, it will take time for our circumstances to
readjust and begin to align with the word of God.
Let me conclude by reminding us that the word of God is the seed we sow into our lives.
When we sow the seed of God’s word, it matures step by step. We cannot bypass the
growth cycle so we have to be patient and consistent. Like a seed remains in the
ground and has to be watered to germinate, so we need to remain consistent in
meditating on the word and confessing it into our lives before it bears fruit.
Psalm 1 says that a person that meditates on the word of God is like a tree planted by
the riverside which will bear fruit in due season. The word we faithfully speak into our
lives will surely bear fruit at the right time as long as we maintain our confession without
wavering.
It may take time; it may take years; It would require standing your ground but as long as
we tarry, the word of God will come to pass because it is the Truth .
